'The story of The Hague' is a historic city walk for young and old
alike and an original addition to the city's range of cultural
tourism products.
A guide of Gilde The Hague will take you to the best highlights
in The Hague's history. One can relive the past of the Netherlands
at the attractive Historical Museum of The Hague near the
Hofvijver. On your itinerary you will see some great objects from
The Hague's and Dutch history. After your visit, the guide will
take you to impressive places and buildings around the city's
historic centre, like the Binnenhof and its castle of the count of
Holland, the city palaces situated on the Kneuterdijk and the Lange
Voorhout and the Jugendstil buildings of the Noordeinde. Arriving
at Panorama Mesdag, you enter 'the biggest painting in the
Netherlands' and experience the magical optical illusion of this
fantastic 1881 panorama of Scheveningen and hear about its creator
Hendrik Willem Mesdag and 'The Hague School of Art'. The 2½ hour
programme shall be concluded here with a drink.
